Epsom salts will help you grow bigger, greener, healthier plants. Epsom salts are magnesium sulfate which a plants need for chlorophyll to capture the energy from the sun for photosynthesis. In other words no magnesium, no green leaves. Pale green leaves are sure sign that your plant has a magnesium deficiency. You don’t have to wait for your plant to be in distress to use Epsom salts, you can also use them in to boosts your plants growing power or to treat a variety of ailments and pest. Here are 5 ways you can use Epsom Salts in home and garden.

1. Getting rid of garden pests big and small- you can mix Epsom salts with bran and molasses to deter the crawling pests, or mix 2 TBSP of Epsom salts to 1G of water spray around plants and on leaves to deter the animals from eating them. Try spraying at night. ( be careful this mixture maybe to harsh and burn in the leaves in the sun.)

2. Greener house plants- mix 2 TBSP to 1G water and add to your plants till soil is damp once a week.

3. Better Roses- For bigger blooms, rich color, and dark green leaves. For new roses soak roots in 1/2c to 1G water mixture. For established roses take 1/2c to 1G water mixture at the base of the plant once a month during the blooming season.

4. Sweeter tomatoes and hardier peppers- add 2 TBSP salts to 1G of water at the base of plants Careful not to get the leaves every 2 weeks.

5. Tree stump removal- drill holes about 2 inches deep in the top and sides of your stump, fill with undiluted Epsom salts. The stump will decay on its own. You may need to repeat in 3-4 weeks for bigger stumps.
